Methods of fashion design developments; technical rendering of garments, production, storage and retrieval of fashion sketches using CAD structure hardware. Apparel development from a problem solving perspective to meet aesthetic, functional and rehabilitation needs, performing arts and new technology; fish tail wedding dress, leg of mutton, bustier, cowl neckline, bustle silhouettes, office wear, wedding ceremonies, lingerie, casual wear, shirt and accessories. Methods of handling delicate fabrics; plaids, lace, border prints, moiré, leather, satin and napped fabrics during laying, cutting, sewing and pressing. Cost sheet for the project garment.


To tie the importance of origin of a fiber, the yarn preparation and fabric construction to the end product such as a garment, towel etcetera.


The application of art elements and principles to the planning, selection and arrangements of household furniture and furnishings. The basic design principles applied to pattern texture, line and colour in relation to accents for interior. Emphasis is on practical approach of assessing the interiors within the surrounding, proposing ideal interior soft furnishing design project on window treatments, floor coverings, and bed spreads and slipcovers. They will then execute the project and present a report.

Major influences on fashion in history; economic, socio cultural, technological, emblemic. Development of fashion industry in Europe, America and Africa. Fashion styles in ancient and medieval times. Fashion during the renaissance and influence from different cultures and customs. Famous European, Asian and African costumes. Emphasis is put on the influences,  style development and their significance. Adaptation of the costumes to modern fashion designs. Contribution of historic and contemporary Fashion trend setters to the development of the fashion industry.
