Purpose of the Course
The purpose of the course is to provide students with sound introduction to foundations of physical education and sports, history and development of basic skills, drills, rules, lead up and conditioning games e.g., hockey, basketball, handball and volleyball. Markings, layout and dimensions of relevant facilities and equipment. It seeks to relate relevant theory and practices to the teaching and learning of specific sports and/or physical activities within university-based settings. The broad aim of the course is to provide an in-depth 'foundational' base in the sports sciences for students who will be teachers teaching Physical Education.
