The purpose of the course is to introduce the learner to a philosophical articulation of philosophical issues in educational theory and practice.

The course exposes students to skills in evaluation of past educational developments in the context of social, cultural economic and political changes in human history comprising historical survey of educational theory and practice. This unit traces the development of education from time immemorial to the present. This unit helps students to understand the development of education in their country and the foundations that provide the base for the current educational policies, theories and practices.
