CRS 950         Advances in Seed Science     (3 Units)

Selected cutting edge issues in seed science, i.e. research on seed physiology, biochemistry, production, processing and marketing. Students will identify, present and discuss recent and relevant scientific publications. Access to basic relevant literature is facilitated by the lecturers.

Purpose of the Course

Current issues on the role of seed and seed technology in agricultural and rural development, e.g. climate change, gender role in seed production and role of advisory services through literature search and case studies. The relationship with other disciplines such as soil science, agricultural economics and extension will be explored.

CRS 962         Advanced Statistical Methods and Computer Applications (4 Units)

Analysis of variance of experimental designs: incomplete block designs, balanced and partially balanced designs, lattice designs; Analysis of covariance; Curve fitting; Multivariate analysis: simple and multiple linear regression, discriminant function analysis, cluster analysis, principal component analysis; Modelling and simulation; Computer analysis of experimental data and interpretation; Publication of experimental results.
