First Semester

This course presents the philosophical and scientific foundations for the art of teaching. It discusses Classroom planning and management; describes curriculum and teaching methods, and; presents learning environment and educational media. Course topics include assessment and evaluation, learning strategies; teaching methods strengths and weaknesses, the school and/as workplace, contemporary issues and research in teaching methods.


The purpose of this course is to expose the student to the foundations and theoretical frameworks that have evolved in the study of technology as a discipline in the school curriculum. Curricula models, teaching/learning theories, learning and work relationships and challenges encountered shall be critically examined.

The purpose of this course is to help advanced students in the exploration and articulation of the major guiding principles of policy formulation and planning in Technical and Vocational Education and Training.




TED 970R QUALITY ASSURANCE AND STANDARDS IN TVET

The role of Quality Assurance and Standards in TVET, quality assurance and quality control, assessment, monitoring and evaluation methods and measurement tools. Contemporary quality assurance practices.  Institutional accreditation and certification.  Emerging issues and challenges in the formulation and maintenance of QA and TVET Standards.


The course defines Distance Learning, outlines its objectives, describes its programmes and discusses the various media available for its dissemination. The challenges, issues and benefits of distance Learning are also be discussed.
