Purpose of the Course
The purpose of the course is to equip students with necessary skills for university education such as communication skills, library skills, reading and writing skills study skills and examination skills. The course will also equip students with the skills necessary for life outside of the university, particularly the job market. Such skills include reading and writing (e.g. letters, memos and reports), public speaking conducting interviews, planning strategies and management of time and resources.

Purpose of the course
This course focuses on education inquiry through the critical perspective that examines education in the light of its origins, major influences and consequences. It traverses the formal, informal and non-formal education in its development and its context. It explores education theory and practice from the old civilizations and the African indigenous education into current issues affecting education and links students with courses like education management, education administration, and education planning and further with the social sciences.
